The End of Fall Out Boy

fob2Pete Wentz, the bassist for pop punk group Fall Out Boy, posted on his personal blog Tuesday that the future of the band is uncertain. The post, called “to make it perfectly clear,” says the following:

i dont know the future of fall out boy. its embarrassing to say one thing and then have the future dictate another. as far as i know fall out boy is on break. (no one wants to say the “h” word). as much as i dont have a solo project, i also cant predict that id ever play in fall out boy again. not due to personal relationships as much as a band we grew apart. in this statement id like to include there is the possibility that fob will play again with out me or i will be a part of it when everyone is on the same page. it is no ones fault and there is no animosity about the decision. i felt as fans you deserve to know. there is no singular reason for this. the side projects or bands are supported by all members of the band. i am the single biggest fan of fob and if this is our legacy than so be it. i am proud of it.

His twitter account also included blurbs such as “cant imagine playing in fob again. something would have to change in my head or my heart- not my wallet. itd have to be real,” “would you rather me lie to you through a publicist?” and “man. dont you get it? a hiatus is forever until you get lonely or old. i dont plan on either.”

Then Wednesday, Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump spoke to Spin saying, “I’m not in Fall Out Boy right now, but one way or another, the band will always be around. Steven Tyler isn’t in Aerosmith anymore, but his gravestone will probably say something about Aerosmith. Whether we play again or not, I don’t know. If we do, it will be for the right reasons. If we don’t, it will also be for the right reasons.”

Then Cab frontman Alex DeLeon followed up with another blog post on Wentz’s site. Here are the highlights:

“i’m writing this blog to say that i support them no matter what. i realize people are going to tweet me and post “you are a brown noser” or “stop kissing so much ass”…but to be honest..i don’t care. (no pun intended) ” <<Not sure what pun he thought he was making, but I guess that’s sweet.

“fall out boy will never be completely over. i have enough memories to last me three lifetimes. they’ve put enough wind in my sails to push me around the world a dozen or so times. they won’t be forgotten. how many bands that you listen to were started because of fall out boy? or at least we’re inspired by their songs and sounds. fall out boy wasn’t just a band. it was a movement. it was the light between the clouds that showed that us kids can become something great. it was the fact the we can all change the world in our own ways. even if we all feel like underdogs sometimes. how can we be mad or upset with them when they have given us so much? i have heard some of patrick’s new stuff…and it is absolutely amazing. pete seems to be getting into something everyday that’s groundbreaking, new, and exciting. none of our boys are going anywhere. we need to be proud of them. i’m going to support them like they supported me. when i was lonely in my bedroom..i could put on my fall out boy cd and escape for a few minutes. have you guys seen how big little bronx is getting? isn’t he a beautiful little boy? how amazing is that for pete? they’re growing up just like we are…and they deserve a round of applause. a standing ovation. who knows what they’ll do in the future..but we all know what they have done in the past. no one can take fall out boy away from us… not even them personally.”

Hm… Fall Out Boy as a movement? Certainly bands like Panic! at the Disco followed the trail blazed by FOB, but I think time will tell what the music scene is actually missing without the group in the future.

Bye Fall Out Boy, and Thnks fr th Mmrs.

twitter background says – reply to this

Hey, Great blog you have here. I wanted to let you all know that I think Twitter is going to be one of the best networks because of the fact that it is supported by so many industries. I also think when Twitter reveals some of it’s new functions, returning traffic will increase to show the real growth of the network.

Anyway, I build a site that gives away great resources for Twitter that are 100% free, so come and visit and don’t be a stranger.

Keep up the good work!
